The blessing of sleep

Sleep. Something many of us take for granted.

I had a few very sleepless nights recently. Nothing bad happened to cause me anxiety or anything, I just woke up in the middle of the night and lay awake for several hours, desperately tired, but not sleeping. The following days were long torture of fatigue.

It made me realize what it must be like to suffer from insomnia.

Last two nights I've dropped off to sleep again with no problem, and it made me appreciate what a blessing a good night's sleep is.

  1. :-) I have had sleepless nights--nights when I dozed off, and then woke up three hours earlier than I had to. Odd how it seems we so easily slip back to sleep just about the time we DO have to wake up.

You are the opposite of "Bing" (Irving Berlin). He fell asleep counting his blessings. :-)

I hope your nights of interrupted sleep are behind you now. :-)

  2. Ian, I love this blog... I just discovered it. I like visiting your other one, too, but I've not been "out and about" much lately. I'm going to put a link on my blog to both your blogs.

Thank you so very much for your comments on my blog. It is always gratifying when someone understands a topic as you did this one.

Oh, and the reason I am commenting on this particular post... the only time I fall asleep and then wake up in the night and cannot sleep is when I've had too much caffeine. I am very sensitive to it. I don't drink coffee at all, and when I drink caffeinated tea too late in the day, I have that happen.

    The best to you...

    Saloma
